Book #1: "Stone Fox" by John R. Gardiner (ADVENTURE)

The book I am reviewing  is "Stone Fox".It all starts off with a boy named Willy and his grandfather who enjoy life in their peaceful farm until one day a catastrophe struck. One day, Willy's grandfather is full of energy, and the next, he lay in bed as still as ice.At first,Willy thought he was joking. Then, he got scared and went to the doctor's hut.The doctor examined  his grandfather and she said that he wasn't sick-he just gave up on life.Willy tried to ask his grandfather what would make him better, but he could not speak.Later, the tax collectors came and said to Willy that he owed them 500 dollars for not paying the taxes (that's what made his grandfather give up).Willy decided to enter a dogsled race with a reward to the winner of 500 dollars. But the problem was that the great racer Stone Fox - who never lost a race- signed up for the race. Difficult or not,Willy was determined to compete and win! Towards the end of the race with Willy in first place, Willy's dog's heart burst. Stone Fox let Willy walk the rest of the race, and Stone Fox said he would shoot anyone that tried to pass Willy. Willy still won the race.

I feel like Willy's dog, Searchlight, tried very hard to win the race thanks to the strong bond of friendship between Willy and Searchlight. I think Searchlight knew that the race was for a very important reason.Willy obviously has a strong spirit because he didn't want to let his grandfather down. I liked this book because it was about friends helping friends. My favorite part of the book was when Willy heard about the dogsled race.
